From CG, living in England, a regular visitor to the Island.
We have been coming to the Island twice a year (summer and winter) since 1989, and always stay in Ventnor, the loveliest of all the Island's towns. The walks along the Landslip via the recently re-opened "Devils Chimney" to the east to Sandown are the highlight of every visit.
In summer, the Undercliff walk from Niton via the "Cripple Path" and up again to the "High Hat" for spectacular views of St. Lawrence. are a "must". And, of course, the Coastal Path walk from Ventnor to Steephill Cove for the best crab sandwiches in the world!
This year we explored the "America Wood" walks near Shanklin, but will have to save the complete walk until next summer (2000). We also enjoyed two live shows at the Winter Gardens Theatre in Ventnor, and a show at Shanklin Theatre. We were very disappointed to learn that the Theatre in Sandown has now closed. After two week on the Island, I don't want to go back to London.
