Bonchurch, Isle of Wight

The pond was given to the village by Henry de Vere Stacpoole (1863 - 1951) in memory of his first wife. Born in Ireland, he came to Bonchurch in around 1920. Originally a physician, he became a prolific writer of novels.

Fishermen once made pots from withies which grew in Ossier Beds - now this delightful pond.
